Itinerary

Arrival in Paro Airport in the evening. Altitude 2300 above the sea level. Warm welcome Happy Bhutan Greetings from local Bhutanese tour guide. Local guide will receive and drive to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. Check- in the hotel.

Drive to Kuenselphodrang, the largest open-air newly built 169 feet bronze Buddha Dordhenma Statue called the Buddha Point, largest in the country and offering magnificent view of the entire Thimphu valley & enjoy the view. Visit the Takin Zoo, Market, Textile and painting school. And in the afternoon drive 2 hours to Punakha. On the way visit Druk Wangyel Chortens commissioned by the eldest Queen Mother and can walk round the 108 stupas. Enjoy the view of Himalaya if the weather is clean and drive another hour to reach to Punakha.

In the morning hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal which takes 45 minutes between the rice fields. Later than visit Chimi Lhakhang which was built in 15th century on the way and visit Punakha Dzong, north of Punakha which is one of the most beautiful Dzong of Bhutan. The Dzong is beautifully located in between one male river & one female river called Pho Chu and Mo Chu. In the afternoon drive towards Gangtey which takes 2 hours.

Morning nature hike which takes 1 hour and then drive back to Paro. On the way visit Simtokha Dzong which was built in 1628 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, who unified Bhutan. It is the first of its kind built in Bhutan. And drive back to Paro.

Drive to Chelila 3800m which takes 1½ hour drive. Hike to nunnery for 1 hour and have picnic lunch and drive back to Paro. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang which is known as the oldest temple in Bhutan.

In the morning we will hike the tiger nest monastery. It takes around 2 ½ hours to reach to the monastery. Lunch is on the way. It is considered as Bhutan’s most famous monastery. It was built by Tenzin Rabgye in 1692. The name means ‘Tiger’s nest’ it was names as tiger’s nest because Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) is said to have flown to the site of the monastery on the back of a tigress known as Khandrum Yeshi Tshogey.
